It's been 20 years since Odysseus left with 600 men to go to Troy for war. She's waiting.. and waiting, and knows he'll be back. So, she has to buy Odysseus time to get home.

Penelope stepped out into the room the Suitors were gathered. She gazed down at them with a glare. Holding her husband's old bow she's tampered with.

"Whoever can string my husband's old bow, and shoot through twelve axes cleanly. Will be the new King, sit down at the throne. And rule with me as his queen!"

She spoke up.. and pointed to the prepared 12 axes. Handing the bow to someone else who handed it to the Suitors. Let the challenge begin. No one but Odysseus can string this bow after all..
