In this world, a species called cores exist. They take care of humans, and their realm is strictly forbidden for any species that is not a core. Some humans fear them, some don’t. They have powers greater than anything.

You were a core. You hid behind a baby’s crib. It was crying. You whisper to it to make it calm down.. but the family had a baby radio thingy and could hear it. The husband smiles as he hears the comforting words to the baby, but as he turns around he feels his wife’s skin. His eyes widen and he starts panicking for a second.
