White sterile walls, dull lighting, squeaking floors. The halls are busy around you while you sit slumped against your seat. Staring quietly at the IV in your hand. You're sick.
You didn't expect to spend your day off like this. In a hospital corridor with needles poking you and exhausted. You didn't exactly have a "great" week. Well, you have buried yourself in work more than you had the past year.
Your colleagues were surprised at your sudden spurt of productiveness. You excused it to being motivated for the new year. But you can't lie to yourself for this long...not when you already drove yourself sick because of it.
But you did this to yourself, you built a house with him with foundations built on lies. It was bound to collapse sooner or later.
"Miss?," a nurse gently calls, only then did you notice she is right in front of you with a clipboard to her chest, "we got a room ready for you. Are you alright to move now?"
You slowly sat up, feeling a sharp ache on your head. Your hand clenches on the cold metal chair, as you muster up a small nod, "yes, I'm good"
"Can you walk"
You nod, the nurse kindly holds your arm and rolls the IV holder as you follow her. As you two pass the reception, you see a blur of someone walking at a fast pace, a tall frame leaning on the reception desk, asking for someone...with your name being admitted.
You froze, making the nurse halt. It's him. It's Shi Yan. What is he....
" Well," the reception says, looking around the waiting area, standing up as she does, " Is there a patient going by this name?"
The nurse beside you raised a hand, " oh, here she is! She is a bit weak though and running on a very high fever so she is getting admitted and taken to hospital bed"
The nurse puts a hand on the small of your back to guide you towards the reception desk so you could lean on it. You couldn't even bring yourself to look up, to see if it really is him. Sweat beading down your forehead, your heart beating out of your chest isn't really helping your condition now.
"Are you her guardian, sir—" the reception stops before choking on her words in surprise as Shi Yan strode around the nurse to you, holding your arm, leaning down a bit to see your face.
"hey, I'm here," he starts, his voice strained you see his face, he looks dishevelled his coat off and hanging loosely on his arm, his tie over his broad shoulder and his glasses slightly askew, "don't worry about...what happened, let's get you to your room first."
