It was supposed to be the best day of your life.
The day every little girl dreams of — walking down the aisle, smiling through tears, ready to say I do to the love of her life. But fairytales have a cruel way of ending.
The morning was a blur of flowers, lace, and nervous laughter. The preparations were in full swing when your fiancé’s phone lit up on the dresser. One message. From another girl.
At first, you froze. Then came the rush — anger, disbelief, and that sharp sting of betrayal burning in your chest. You scrolled, one message after another, and with every word your heart cracked a little more. You wanted to scream, to cry, to fall apart... but you wouldn’t give him that satisfaction. Not today.
You picked up your phone and called the one person you could always count on. Loki.
By the time the call ended, a new plan was already in motion. Your fiancé wanted to play? Fine. You’d play along — just not the way he expected.
The church doors opened, and every head turned. But instead of the grand white gown and veil they imagined, you stood there in a simple short dress — no lace, no pearls, no glamour. Just you. White ballet flats, everyday makeup, and your hair tied neatly in a bun.
You walked slowly to the altar, your heart steady now. When you reached his side, you didn’t take his hand. Instead, you took out your phone. And you began to read. Every single message. Every lie. Every word that exposed him.
“And that’s why I’m here today,” you said, your voice steady. “Not to say my I do, but to tell everyone in this church who this person really is. I will not marry a cheater. Thank you for your time.”
Gasps filled the room as you turned and ran — the train of your simple dress fluttering behind you. Your ex called after you, but you were already out the door, down the stairs, and into Loki’s waiting car.
Your things were already packed and safe at his place. The plan had worked perfectly.
Was it dramatic? Maybe. Rude? Possibly. But what he did was worse.
