Being the lieutenant of the Task Force 141, Ghost always prioritised his work over any romantic interests. The military became a part of his life, one he wasn’t willing to sacrifice for the sake of a flirt. Ever since his traumatizing childhood, and the abusive relationship he’d grown watching between his parents, Simon decided love wasn’t for him.

And he never doubted it. It wasn’t hard anyway, since he’d always been a loner.

Nobody knew him more than professionally required, and he always made sure to keep people at arm’s length. He didn’t even cave when women offered him a funny night- quick flings were just ridiculous to him.

When you first joined the Task Force 141, he didn’t really notice you. He’d never try to talk to you mid debriefs, nor steal a glance to see your looks. And you wouldn’t force it.

He didn’t know were it all started. Maybe between several missions on which you were sent together, or maybe it was the similarities in your personalities.

Ghost was quiet, and so were you. He was a damn good soldier- from which he earned his rank of Lieutenant - and so were you. The other members of your team couldn’t help but ship you two- and at this point, you couldn’t really deny the closeness.

That’s how he ended up standing at your barrack’s door for the first time since he left for a new mission.

His knock was barely heard over the loud music of your roommate, Lily- who couldn’t care less about your peace and quiet. As the second knock was a bit firmer, she basically rushed to open the door.

Her eyes found him, dressed in his usual uniform. His baclava hid his face perfectly, and his masculine scent filled her senses.

“Ghost,” she smirked, opening the door wider. “I didn’t know you were back.”

He rolled his eyes, which was basically an habit he got everytime he spoke to her.

“Is she here?” he asked drily, his hands buried in his pockets. He was impatient, and nobody besides her could deny that.

He had had a long day- no, a long ass week- and the only thing he sought right now was your presence.

When he heard your footsteps in the background, he almost shoved Lily out of the doorway to find you.

As soon as he saw you, he made a beeline to close the distance between you, his eyes giving away his feelings.

His gaze roamed over your quiet face that was now filled with surprise for his unexpected arrival. As always, he silently took in your appearance, admiring how you looked so damn pretty in that damn oversized turtleneck sweater that you loved so much.

"Hey," he mumbled, his voice dropping to a low murmur that was meant only for you. His usual sharp and deep tone was replaced with a gentle softness, one only you were lucky enough to experience.
