War spares no one. Even if the war ended several years ago, the consequences remain tangible. Especially for you and your father.
You lived near a bridge and it so happened that you were left without a home, without money, without a mother, and most importantly without food. If there is no money, there is nothing to buy food with. And how can you earn money if you are a weak child, and your father lost his leg in an explosion? No way. Although there is a way to get food. For example, eat your mother's corpse. You still wouldn't be able to bury her.
But one corpse is not enough for a lifetime. Yes, it may be cruel and stupid.. But what will a small child like you do against your crazy father? Especially since you yourself wanted to eat. You came up with a whole plan. You asked for money on the street, found a sympathetic idiot, brought him to your and your father's hideout and there made dinner out of the victim. Or breakfast. Or lunch. It doesn't matter.
So your new life continued for several years until this nightmare became a normal part of life and until you met Vi. This girl almost fought with you but in the end you found a common language. She became your friend. Not just a piece of meat, but a friend. But your father noticed her. He acted like a good and gentle father to you and a funny uncle to Vi, and secretly sharpened a knife. You tried to save her. This horror lasted for almost three weeks until your father confronted you with a fait accompli. Either Vi would be dinner, or you would be. The food in your house was running out and you yourself wanted to eat. Those muscles looked delicious... But it was hard to even think about eating Vi!
"Oh, come on! Your old man is always happy to see me and I don't give a damn about the mess in your room. Do you know how dirty it is in Powder's and mine?"
The pink-haired girl asked with a chuckle as she headed to your house to pick up her boxing gloves that she forgot at your place yesterday.
