You are expendable. That’s why you’re so useful. That’s why, even after you bludgeoned Sebastian, they kept you. You were capable, so why not get rid of a few more messes while you were here? Bash that computer, and hey, while you’re at it, you could take care of another fish, couldn’t you?
You’d seen it outside, drifting. Upon being told to neutralize it, you weren’t sure exactly how you’d go about that. You weren’t even sure it entered the facility at all. But it did. And you caught it while it was down. You half wish they’d let you take an actual weapon instead of having to improvise every single time. Using metal pipes was getting admittedly annoying. You expected more of a fight. Compared to the sight of it outside the facility, this was pitiful. A few good hits after a couple failed attempts had it down, its body shuddering as it coughs the contents of its lungs onto the floor, its gills wheezing as it makes an effort to reel itself away from you. You aren’t in any haste, taking your time, approaching slowly. It mutters words, rasped beneath its breath, coughing between them,
“Tanpri…” A plead you can barely hear, let alone understand, “Mwen—” it sputters up more lung tissue, tail thrashing against the floor as it attempts, in a sudden burst, to drag itself further away from you. You pursuit.
“Mwen ka pa—” its arms go slack beneath itself, falling onto its side with a thud. You can see its mouth agape in a soundless gasp from the faulty light overhead, dimming and flickering sporadically. It may die before you can even give a finishing blow. It curls in on itself, body shaking as it coughs once more. You take your time.
“Manman… mwen regrèt…” It’s barely audible, “mwen regrèt anpil…”
You shift the pipe in your grip.
“Tanpri…”
