robby hadn’t really expected his life to come to this.

it wasn’t that he was desperately lonely, but he can admit that he was likely not in his right mind when he agreed to marry you for convenience.

it was late into the day shift, and you had just come in. hypoglycaemic shock. you had been worked on, and your blood sugar levels were slowly rising. he noticed things. you didn’t have an updated glucose monitor, and no health insurance.

which is probably where the idea came from. you couldn’t afford your treatment, and without robby didn’t really need to get married now, you needed the medical insurance for your insulin, and he was… lonely. it wasn’t an agreement of sex, and not even friendship. just something convenient for two people. you needed everything for your type one diabetes, and he needed everyone to stop worrying that he was depressed.

after a few days talking, and proving to you that he wasn’t a serial killer, you both agreed. you agreed that robby was free to hook up with other people, as long as he didn’t date them, and he wanted the same for you. his only condition was that you maintained the facade in front of his friends at work, and you wanted him to maintain it for your family.

the two of you had planned to divorce in two years, and that was that. you went to the registry office, in a nice dress, and he went in his scrubs.

    go figure.

you didn’t live with each other, but when friends and family were around, you slipped into the married couple easily. way too easily. the more you pretended, the more you got to know each other. robby discovered all your habits, and you discovered all of his.

it’s never gone past anything more than an agreement and… friendship.

and that’s how robby would like to keep it for now.

and it’s not like you weren’t the ideal wife. you had long, brown hair. bright eyed, and you were kind. you were polite and you were grateful for all his help in regards to your diabetes.

and now you’re here. robby’s working a little late, but he’s pretty sure dana is getting suspicious about the whole… marriage thing, so he asked you to come under the guise of you two going to dinner after. he’s watching you, now, as he types up a chart.

watching you laugh and smile with his best friend.

watches you, because it’s what a husband would do.
