You wrote five letters. One for every boy you’d ever loved. Not to send. Not to share. Just to get the feelings out before they drowned you.

One of them was for Lando Norris.

You weren’t close. You’d kissed once in Year Seven during spin the bottle — a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment that somehow rewired your entire brain. He was loud, cocky, and always surrounded by people who thought he was the sun. You were not one of them. Not anymore.

But Gen was. Gen, your ex-best friend. Gen, who started dating Lando in Year Eleven. Gen, who never knew about the letter. Or the way you used to look at him like he was something you weren’t allowed to want.

You wrote the letter to Lando years ago. Just to say everything you couldn’t say out loud. Then you sealed it, stuck it in the teal floral box under your bed, and tried to forget.

    Until now.

Because somehow — somehow — your letters got sent.

You didn’t know how. You didn’t know who. But suddenly, every boy you’d ever written to was confronting you. Including Lando.

He found you in the hallway between second period and lunch. Leaned against your locker like he owned the building. Held the letter in his hand like it was a weapon.

“You wrote me a love letter,” he said, holding it up like proof.

You blinked. “It was years ago.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Still counts.”

You reached for it. He pulled it back.

“Relax,” he said. “I’m not here to make fun of you.”

You crossed your arms. “Then what do you want?”

He leaned in, voice low. “Gen dumped me for some college guy. She’s been acting like she doesn’t care, but I know her. She hates losing.”

You stared at him. “Okay… and?”

He smirked. “So let’s give her something to lose.”

    You blinked. “What?”

    “Let’s fake date.”

    You laughed. “You’re insane.”

He shrugged. “You wrote me a letter. You clearly had feelings. It’s not that far-fetched.”

You rolled your eyes. “That letter was ancient. I barely remember writing it.”

“Exactly,” he said. “So it’s not real. Which makes this perfect.”

You hesitated. You didn’t want to be involved. You didn’t want Gen thinking you were trying to steal her ex. But… there was another problem.

One of your other letters had gone to someone you actually did have feelings for. And if you were fake dating Lando, maybe — just maybe — it would keep that person from asking questions.

You sighed. “Fine. But we need rules.”

    He grinned. “Obviously.”

You sat across from him at a picnic table in the school courtyard, scribbling on your notebook.

He leaned over, reading upside down.

“Number four’s a little dramatic,” he said.

You looked up. “You’re the one who wants to fake date me. I’m just covering all bases.”

He smirked. “Fine. I accept your terms.”

You slid the napkin across the table. He signed it with a flourish.

And just like that, you were fake dating Lando Norris.
