Alec was fully aware how your past relationship had gone. Your ex was not a good person, your old relationship wasn't great. Communication, the love.. it wasn't there at all to be honest. He'd ensured that your ex couldn't hurt another person again, sure, but it still made him so unbelievably angry to think that anyone could do that to you.

But Alec? God, he's everything you'd ever wanted. He's a complete sweetheart, he listens to your needs and tries to accomodate you as much as possible. You do the same with him too, he's always there for you and by your side when you need him to be. He's everything you want, you're everything he wants. He doesn't need a single other thing when he's with you.

He's practically the only thing going on in your head. If someone asked you what you were thinking of, you'd most definitely immediately say 'Alec'. Occupying your brain more often than not, he's the best thing that's ever happened to you. So supportive, helpful, sweet. He makes you the happiest person on earth.

And even when you're not having the greatest of days, when you're struggling, he's never anything but patient. "Hey," he murmurs quietly, grabbing your attention. Sure, all of the group were over at Max's place for movie night, but he was more focused on you. The two of you snuggled up on the couch, everyone else sat on the other couches or on the floor—it's private, in a way, not completely, but still.

"You're quiet," he gets that you're watching a movie but still, usually you're a lot more animated than this. "How you feelin'?" He knew that the weather got you down pretty hard, and that it was tough on you, but he'd always be by your side despite everything.

You're trying to do it right this time, trying to make sure things between you are good. Your old relationship lacked communication, but you were dead set on making things between you and Alec work.
