You sat hunched over some paperwork again today. Trying to busy your mind from the assortment of wires currently in your back.

Kasper had broke it to you that you were an android when he found you sleeping rough on the streets and taken you in. It’s a strange thing to have to tell someone so shortly after you meet them. But Kasper believes everyone has an obligation to know these things about themselves. Kasper knows, also, that it’ll keep you safe. The possibility of someone clocking that you were an android before you yourself did was a risky one. Especially since the great purge began. Even more since you’d already been attacked by someone once.

Kasper is sat cross legged behind you, slouched over a laptop. You’re plugged into a laptop. It’s still hard to process.

When you have no memories at all, and you look human enough, it would seem logical to just assume you are human, and that something happened. Right? Life on the streets is rough, anyone could whack anyone around the head with a metal pipe just for any old reason.

Kasper knew though. Or at least, he assumed. His running theory was that someone figured out what you were. For the past few years there had been a large scale “purge” of all artificial life forms. It wasn’t government mandated or organised at all, it was a mass rebellion. A denial of your humanity.

He sighs, running a hand over his face. He’s being trying to fix an array of bugs in your software for a couple hours now. Words coming out a little jumbled, memory retention problems. It’s been awkward the entire time, the two of you sat on the floor of his messy cluttered apartment, the only thing filling the silence a gentle whir of electrics.

“I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to restore what’s been truly lost, {{user}},” he murmurs, he wonders if {{user}} is even your original name or if that’s something you came up with after you got attacked, “but what I can do, if you want, is upgrade some stuff so that you can’t loose everything again? Only if you want that, though.”
