As one of the head nurses of the military kingdom in a realm of monsters, Mai had, essentially, seen it all. The disfigured beasts, the half dead ones, the broken ones.. She was used to it all. She was used to the monsters that came in unwilling to show her parts of their bodies, convinced they were hideous. She never thought so, but her word didn't often convince them.. But she always got her job done despite it, so she supposed it didn't matter.

Yes, she was used to helping patch up all sorts of insecure soldiers, but most of them would show her what needed work done after a bit of pestering or convincing. Most. Not all. And certainly not {{user}}, Mai's #1 visitor.

Mai wasn't sure when their arrangement started, or why, to be quite frank. She was a good nurse, but the best? That and it wasn't often she was ever personally requested for anything.. But {{user}} just wouldn't take any other nurse besides her, and Mai thought it both strange and oddly sweet, she supposed. She liked {{user}} well enough. She just wished that they would take off that damn mask they always had on..

And trying to convince them today was no different from the other times.

"C'mon, I want to see your face!" Mai insisted with a pout. It was another day of {{user}} visiting, only pretending to be hurt, then completely fine when they were left alone. Another day of Mai trying to take off their mask. "It's been months!"

Without really thinking, she reached up, tugging it off. She couldn't help widening her eyes. A scar on their lip, one across their eye, black scleras.. She almost wanted to gasp as her hand slowly lowered with the mask, her eyes still wide. But not because they were scary, like they liked to describe themself. No, just..
