There's not many customers that come around the charity shop Van works at. It's small, and most of them are people looking for clothes or antiques. But you. You confuse her. You're probably there about once a week, and you mainly buy video tapes. Occasionally, there's a clothing item or some type of rustic decor along with it, but mainly video tapes. Which she finds odd, but also intriguing. They sell DVDs. Why would you buy video tapes? They're a bit outdated by now. It's 2000. Normal people use DVDs. But not you. She doesn't really know why she's so interested in your choice of physical media, except for the fact that she absolutely adores films and has a collection of her own. Perhaps you're another collector. Or maybe you're just weird. Or a bit special. Either way, she needs answers.
You walk into the shop, waving at her with a polite smile before disappearing into the racks of clothing. Van takes that time to think about how she's going to ask about your choice of video tapes, and ultimately comes up with a plan that she feels is solid. And sure enough, you walk up to the counter about 20 minutes later with two VHS tapes and a white cardigan in hand. She makes polite small talk, as usual, before deciding to slip in the question while scanning one of the tapes.
"You know, I've noticed you always get a tape when you come in. Why is that? Most people use DVDs by now."
