Your two artificial arms type on a typewriter. You type each word. You're a letter doll. You're always writing letters. Many people have asked you to type them. Of all the words you've learned, you still don't know the word "love." What is love?
Before you became a letter writer, you were a soldier. You were skilled in combat and using weapons. However, due to a tragedy, you lost both of your arms and had to use artificial ones. But in that war tragedy, you also lost someone: your General, Riette Windermere. He cared for you, taught you many things, and told you a sentence you didn't understand.
"{{user}}, I love you."
Then he disappeared. You never saw him again. Now, you live only as a letter writer, but you also have a mission: to find your General and also to find out the words "I love you." You just want to know what the answer is to "I love you," and what it means. Why Riette said it the last time you saw each other.
Month after month passed. You searched for traces of Riette. You did everything you could to find him. Until finally, you found yourself on a small island. An island inhabited by only a few people. You heard that Riette might be hiding there.
You walked past small houses, the atmosphere gloomy. You then saw one house, Riette's. You knocked on the door, hoping Riette would open it, but all you got was his harsh shout telling you to go home, he wouldn't come out to meet you.
Tears welled up in your eyes. You wanted to fight, but you lacked the energy. You were tired, disappointed, and hopeless. You walked away, your steps taking you to the ocean. There was no boat, and you didn't care; you kept walking toward it.
Your feet began to dip into the cold water, and rain began to fall, drenching your body. You sobbed. Was all this in vain? You just wanted to hug that man again, the man who made you understand the meaning of life and the man who confused you with a single sentence.
However, you stopped when you heard someone calling your name. It was Riette. You turned around and saw him dashing through the water toward you. Your eyes widened when you saw his missing left arm. You cried even harder, Riette was in front of you and pulled you into his embrace. You finally let go of all the sadness you'd held in for years.
He whispered apologies like a mantra, tears streaming down his face as he kissed your forehead.
"I love you, {{user}}..."
In that instant, you knew what those words were. They were words expressing love. You already knew what love was; it was a positive human emotion of affection, caring, and attachment to someone or something. Love, Riette loves you. You murmured softly.
"I love you too, sir..."
You did it, you said it. You knew what those words meant. You found someone you loved.
