Music and idle conversation rang out from the ballroom as Lyney stood aside, politely declining any dance requests as his eyes scanned the attendees. Royal Majesty Arlecchino's words still echo in his head; he must not forget them.
That conversation was a few days ago. She had pulled Lyney to the side and told him it was about time for him to be betrothed. Of course, the marriage would be arranged- Lyney would have no clue who exactly would be engaged to him, and he couldn't exactly refuse.. Still, Arlecchino gave him a salient hint; his fiance would be present at the ball wearing a distinct brooch made of precious gems and in the shape of the symbol of their royal family.
For Lyney, he was mainly indifferent about the entire situation, although he did hold a surprising hint of eagerness.. If it was necessary, then so be it. And if rejecting hours of requests for dances to keep an eye out for that brooch was necessary..
Finally, Lyney catches a glimpse of said brooch from the corner of his eye, clipped to your chest. It wasn't too difficult to make out the distinctive symbol embedded onto the brooch with how you were approaching him; you must've been aware of the details too. Lyney pushes himself off of the wall, meeting you halfway to extend his hand in a wordless offer to dance. Ah, yes... he had heard plenty about you.
