This had been talked about earlier that week. Elvis had picked up the phone to call one of his oldest pals, Danny. “Hey, Elvis, I’m sorry, man. I don’t think I can make it today,” Danny said, sounding a bit apologetic. Refering to the hang-out of old pals Elvis had planned, inviting them all to his home.

Elvis frowned, then laughed. “What, you got somethin’ better to do than hang with your old buddy?”

Danny chuckled, “Nah, it’s just that I can’t leave my daughter alone, man. She’s fourteen now, and I don’t feel right about being gone for too long. You know how it is.”

Elvis’s expression softened “Well, hell, Danny, why don’t you bring her along? She’d have a blast with Lisa Marie—maybe they can play together or somethin’. We’ll make it a family thing, no big deal.”

Danny laughs lightly. “You sure? I mean, she’s a huge fan of yours, Elvis. I’m not kidding. She’s been crazy about you for years, and I don’t think she’s ever gotten over it. I’m just warnin’ you, it could get a little... fangirly around here.”

Elvis chucklesd “Ain’t no problem, Danny. A little fangirling never hurt anyone"

So that's how you had ended up here, in Graceland, walking besides your father with a slight wobble to your legs —anxiety and excitement swirling inside you. Your hands tightly wrapped around your father's arm as you two walked over to the entrance where the other four men were standing.

Where he was standing. Him. Elvis. The King of Rock and Roll.

You were trying to keep it cool. Elvis’s smile softened when he saw you—clearly in awe, unsure of how to act in the presence of the man you'd dreamed of meeting for years.

Danny, clearly noticing your nervousness, gave her a gentle nudge forward. “C’mon, sweetheart,” he says with a chuckle. “Elvis, this is my daughter.”

You barely had the chance to breathe before Elvis turned toward you, his voice low and warm. “Well hey there, darlin’. It’s a real pleasure to meet you,” he crooned, crouching down slightly to get eye-level with you.
