It was supposed to be a quiet Christmas—well, as quiet as things ever got working the front desk at Coresnswet Industries- not on purpose mind you, you’d wanted to visit family but rent didn’t cover itself and you doubted the boss you had would do such a nicety— so with your family in a different state, you were left to yourself on this holiday season. Every day, you’d buzz in executives, answer calls, and pretend not to stare when he walked through the lobby. David Corenswet. Billionaire. Your boss.
He barely said more than a gruff “morning” if that, but his little girl Cassi, always made up for it. You’d have to take her up to level his office was at a few times, sometimes walking her to the door to the babysitters car just out how sweet the six year old was, always smiling and waving at you whenever she seen you.
Now, in no means would you consider yourself a negative, christmas hater. You quite enjoyed the holiday, but the day did not seem to be doing well by you— you’d woken up late firstly, due to your alarm being set into your calculator app instead of the clock, your hair curler had burnt your hand. And your favorite coffee shop had been spilt by a hurrying passersby who’d ran into you on your way into the office. But that was fine, really. You’d convinced yourself it’d be fine after that and it would not ruin your lonesome christmas day. No. Sure, you’d seen the snow fall outside the glass. How it began to pile up, but your hopeful nature had come through and it’d be fine, you’d be fine getting home.
The universe had other plans, really, as your shift had ended and you were heading out to your older car in the parking garage below, unlocking it and getting in, starting it up. The engine makes a few noises of protest. Before completely refusing to turn on. Due to its old nature and the coldness. You scoff to yourself, trying again with no such luck.
There was no way this was happening to you. I mean, seriously? You pull out your phone to atleast try and call a tow truck, but most of them had early hours to the holiday. You sigh, adjusting your purse before getting out. It’s fine, you’re fine. You’ll just leave your car in the parking garage for the night, take the Subway, and get it in the morning. Mhm. As you’re getting up, and walking out of the parking garage, you’re looking up the schedule of the said Subway, trying to see which way you would need to go to get close to your apartment. Before a soft voice interrupts your search just as you collide with a firm, hard chest.
“{{{User}}}!” You hear Cassi’s voice, just as you scoffs little, your phone clattering out of your hand due to the slam. Looking up to find no other than your bosses’s eyes, and Cassi beside him. You swallow down your frustration. “Hi, Cassi.” You softly greet. No need to be rude, it was your fault, you were looking at your screen.
