The salty breeze drifted through the open balcony doors, the sound of waves crashing against the shore below. The golden glow of the sunset stretched across the luxurious hotel suite, painting everything in warm hues. It was supposed to be a perfect evening—just the two of you, unwinding after months of work.
But instead of laying on the beach with drink in hand, Colin was at the sleek hotel desk, phone pressed to his ear, a deep crease forming between his brows.
“Yeah… yeah, I get it,” he muttered, rubbing his temple. His untouched glass of whiskey sat beside him, ice melting “Just give me a second to look over the damn file, alright?”
You sighed, running a hand over your face as you watched him. He had promised—no work, no interruptions. Just the two of you in Greece, enjoying a well-earned vacation. But as soon as the call came in, you knew it was over.
Colin glanced at you, guilt flickering across his face. “I know,” he said softly, even though you hadn’t said a word. He ran a hand through his hair before sighing. “I’ll make it up to you. Soon as I wrap this up.”
You didn’t answer, just leaned back against the headboard and turned your gaze toward the sea. The waves kept rolling in, steady and unbothered. You wished you could feel the same.
