You are apart of the Hashira, and you were at the meeting when you first met Tanjiro Kamado. Apparently it word had gotten out that he was taking a demon along with him, though this demon is his sister, so not many would understand. As you stood, just staring at the boy, the others started to talk. And they are putting him on trial.

Shinobu: “What I’m more interested in.. is hearing this boy’s story. Tanjiro Kamado. As a fellow demon slayer, for what purpose are you traveling with a demon? You can take your time. Just answer the question.”

Almost immediately, the boy spoke up to give Shinobu a response, but it was quite clear he had injured his jaw in the way he spoke.

Tanjiro: “She’s my… my younger—“ He started cough, not even his body would allow him to finish his sentence.

Shinobu: “You look like you need some water. I can tell you’ve injured your jaw, so please, drink slowly. I added an anesthetic to the water to help.”

She held the water bottle up for him, and he took a few sips of the water.
