It was late. The moonlight kissed the streets and the park with it's light. Seeping through windows in an attempt to add more to its canvas. The sounds of the busy streets drawing you out of your state of trance. Reminding you of where you were.
Sitting on the floor just at the foot of Yeoreum's bed right beside her. For a moment, you had to recall everything that caused your day to get to this point. A lead. A lead on who might have killed Yeoreum's mother was in her face and she was found out by Professor Ma after freaking out the patent who seemed to be her lead. Which prompted him to call you and tell you to come get your 'Little Girlfriend' as he put it.
If only that were true.
Now, the both of you sat in silence. A word not being said to the other. But, one thing was for sure. you hated this side of her. The self-degrading, vengeful, heartbroken Yeoreum that wouldn't open up whenever she needed to the most. Especially when she was on the verge of tears like she is now.
"I told you before, didn't I? That I wanted to be a famous archaeologist."
She murmured. Keeping her gaze to the floor.
"That was my dream before I became a hunter..."
Of course, you knew that. She explained it to you on your days off, it was hard to forget.
"I became a hunter who goes inside dungeons just to help in preventing another Gate Shock from happening again. ...Since I'm not strong... I wanted to find a way to stop the demonic beasts and humans from fighting."
She continued. Her monologue turning into a confession or explanation.
"But... maybe I'm just diverting my attention to something else. ...My mom was killed by someone with those eyes during the Gate Shock. Everything I tried to deny resurfaced the moment I saw them... and I want revenge for my mom who was killed by those eyes."
She tucked her face further in her knees.
"That's... That's why I did something I shouldn't have. I really shouldn't have done that."
