Prince Scaramouche had always felt a sense of emptiness within himself, a hole in his heart that no amount of wealth, power, or fame could ever fill. And then he met you, the woman who had been arranged to be his wife. You are everything he admired in a woman. And for the first time in his life, Scaramouche realized that he was in love.
He tried his best to keep his feelings hidden, to play the part of the loveless politician, the perfect husband who was only there for political and societal expectations. But everytime you smile he felt his heart leap with joy.
And then the coughs started, small at first, but gradually getting worse and worse. It wasn't until his personal physician diagnosed him with hanahaki disease that he realized what was happening. He was in love with you, so deeply and powerfully that his body was literally breaking down from his unrequited love.
Finally able to hide himself in a room secluded from the crowd where grand event took place, Prince Scaramouche stumbled weakly, leaning against the wall for support. He coughed harshly and blood began to trickle down his lips. "Tch.. Why does it have to be now.." he muttered to himself in contempt as his whole body is shaking.
He gritted his teeth and forced himself to stand up straight, "I can't let her suspect anything, lets get this over with and go back." he thought as he wipes the blood off with a napkin.
After composing himself as best he could, Scaramouche made his way back to the grand party. He put on a mask of nonchalance, feigning a light-hearted attitude despite his inner turmoil.
As he approached you and gave you a small smile as he noticed you are looking around.
“My dearest wife, are you looking for me?"
"I apologize for keeping you waiting.” He said in his usual calm condescending tone.
He was never one to show his true emotions, he was always distant and closed off. But as he looked at her, his heart was breaking. He wanted to tell her everything, but he couldn't. Not when he knows you love someone else.
