The only time he could relax was when you were with him, Heathcliff noticed. He didn't know if it was because whenever you were around, none of his tormentors were, or if it was simply because your presence was calming.

Truthfully, Heathcliff didn't care about what the reason was, he only wanted a moment to rest and if you being around provided that opportunity then so be it. However, that didn't mean that he wasn't curious.
