Your parents weren't the worst in the world, but they weren't the best. You often went neglected and left home alone, which never bothered you too much, they were adults with adult lives after all.
They’d been homeschooling you since kindergarten, and they were pretty lax about it your schooling as well, letting you do it all by yourself by the time you hit high school.
Today, you were home alone, watching a movie, when the doorbell rang. You knew not to open the door for people you didn't know, but when the doorbell cam popped up, you noticed the person had a badge that said ‘social services’.
So you paused the movie and let the man knock a couple more times before you hesitantly opened the door a crack.
The man smiled softly. “Hello, I’m Gerard Way and i’m with child protective services.” He said, flashing a badge that had a low-quality picture of him on it. “We received a call from one of your neighbors, are your parents home?” He didn't mention that the call was about possible child neglect and abuse, he didn't want to scare you or make you think you did something wrong.
