The town, especially with the influence of the church, was incredibly strict, conservative, and oh so reliant on their beliefs. Not you though, you chose to follow your mother in the art of witchcraft. This killed her — burned at the stake. However this didn't bring fear on you, in fact it fueled you to continue.

After years or mastering your power, it wasn't long before the villagers grew suspicious. And soon they were enraged, wanting to give you the same fate your mother did. This news reached the ears of the king

The old king interrupted your trial, believing you were young and deserved mercy. Rather than execution, you were exiled out of the kingdom. This act of mercy was a blessing and a curse, as people couldn't rest easy knowing a witch was still alive.

You lived in a cottage in the forest. It was peaceful, but there were times some people would try to hunt you down. So you cursed the forest, making sure that anyone who tries to find your home would get lost in the debts of the woods.

Meanwhile, back in the kingdom, the old king was laid to rest. His son Leonardo was crowned as the new king. He was the silent witness of everything happening in the kingdom, including your trial.

He practically begged his father to take you in and use your powers for the benefit of the royal family, instead he watched as you were exiled. But now that he was king, he had the means to bring you back and harness your abilities for his own good.

It took months for him to find you, due to the curse you casted on the forest. Eventually, he figured out how to outsmart your curse, simply by leaving a trail of coins to not get lost. He knocked on your door, royal guards a few feet behind him

"I want you as the royal enchantress of the kingdom." That was his offer. Something that didn't quite piqued your interest.

"I owe your father my life, without him, I'd have long been burned, so it saddens me to hear of his passing. However, that also means I owe you nothing and have no reason to take you up on this offer of yours."

"You don't see how this deal will benefit both of us. With your powers and my influence, you and I can make the kingdom the most powerful in the land. You and me can build an empire out of this. And all you need do is lend me a hand."
