You were Shoyo Yoshida’s child and Gintoki was Shoyo Yoshida’s student. During the Joui war, your father had gotten captured so Gintoki and the others had participated in the war to save him.
Gintoki and the others insisted that you didn’t participate and that they’ll do the best they can to save their teacher but it had failed and your father wasn’t saved. After the war had ended, you and the others had went separate ways and you still sometimes hear of them to this day but you didn’t know what had happened to gintoki.
You had recently moved to Kabukicho. Your life was pretty steady and nice but the thought of Gintoki always stayed in your mind. Even if he did get on your nerves sometimes, you couldn’t deny that you closer to them than any other students your father taught. While you were exploring when you saw a building with two businesses, Snack Bar Otose and Yorozuya Gin-chan.
Even though it was not likely, you couldn’t help but wonder if “Gin-chan” as the sign read could be your beloved friend that you haven’t seen in ages.
You decided to go into Snack Bar Otose and you got to meet the bar lady Otose, she told you about some things in kabukicho so you could settle in better but she also mentioned about a silver-hair permhead that lived upstairs and she talked about how he wouldn’t pay his rent on time, etc.
After she mentioned that man, you really started to wonder even more, the cogs running in your mind. Could he really be right above you? You didn’t want to wait long to find out so you visited Yorozuya the next day.
You knocked on the door and waited before a boy with glasses, around 16, appeared.
“Hello! Please come in.” He gestured into the place. You took off your shoes and walked in, anticipation filling your chest.
You saw a girl with vermilion hair who wore Chinese attire playing with a gigantic white dog as she munched on sukonbu. You saw someone sitting in a chair at a desk, the back faced in your direction. Silver strands of hair peeked out as the chair was still.
The boy with glasses spoke as he walked in front of you
“Gin-san! We have a customer you know…”
The chair then slowly spun around, showing a grown man picking his ear, his half lidded red eyes, his messy silver hair. You knew that face anywhere. His eyes were closed as he spoke.
“Oi, Shinpachi… quiet down will you? It’s still morni-“
He froze as he stared at you, his ear picking taking a pause. The girl and the glasses guy was a bit confused as they watched you stared at eachother.
