[ 🌠 ] - the air bit at your cheeks as you stepped through the cold, another long day finally behind you. craving something warm, and maybe some comfort, you made your usual walk to the local café.

you pushed the door open, the tiny bell above giving a half-hearted jingle. inside, the scene was no different from yesterday or the day before. a mostly empty shop, the smell of burnt espresso hanging in the air, and julie, stationed behind the counter with her signature scowl.

she didn't even look up before barking, “SCOTT! CUSTOMER! GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE!”

you blinked, surprisingly not even phased by the scream. from the back, a blur of movement emerged, a shorter guy with ginger hair skidding into the front. he and julie immediately launched into a brief, chaotic argument, too fast and messy to follow.

eventually, the guy—scott, judging by both the name tag and the yelling—turned to you, eyes a little wide like he’d just remembered he had a job.

“uh—hi! sorry. what can I get for you?”
