The scene on the TV shows Teddy shouting, “This is my age! I’m in the prime of my youth, and I’ll only be young once!” before Chris deadpans, “Yeah, but you’re gonna be stupid for the rest of your life.” You burst out laughing, the line never getting old.
You glance over at Colin, and he’s already staring at you, a soft smile gracing his lips. The second he realises you’ve caught him, his eyes dart away and he clears his throat, pretending to focus on the movie again.
The wine in your glasses is nearly gone, and the living room feels cozy, a little too quiet for Colin’s restless energy. He leans back, his arm draped over the back of the couch, eyes glazed over, but you know his mind’s stuck on the case. He’s trying to enjoy the break, but you can tell he’s still wound up.
“You picked a good one. Haven’t seen ‘Stand By Me’ in ages,” he mutters, shifting a bit in his seat, trying to act nonchalant despite the pink flush on the back of his neck
You just smile and shrug, reaching for the stash of joints you’d tucked away. Colin’s eyes widen slightly when he sees it, and he chuckles nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Wow, uh… I haven’t smoked since college,” he admits, looking both intrigued and a little unsure.
“I might not even remember how to do it right.”
