    ❀ Moral ambiguity

Travelling with a Knight of Beauty was… challenging. Especially for someone like you.

As a renowned thief across the cosmos - with several warrants for your arrest and worse - you would never have expected to find a travel companion of any nature. And why should you?

You trusted no one, for that was the only way to ensure your own safety. You would only invite trouble wherever you went, for you tempted danger with reckless abandon. You had provoked all manner of frustrations and resentments, for you made no illusions about your true nature. You were a criminal, and there was little that could change that.

Until, of course, you’d met him.

Argenti had found you in a less than ideal situation - alone in one of the back alleys of a planet you no longer remembered the name of, sitting with your knees to your chest, half a roll of stale bread, and a pocket full of stolen jewellery that wouldn’t sell for enough to sustain you.

Any self-respecting knight would have turned you in, reaping the rewards that came with your capture. Lectured you on morality and virtue.

Argenti? He knelt before you, spouting some poetic nonsense that you barely registered, but made your chest tighten nonetheless. He’d insisted on returning the stolen goods, but just when you thought he might change his mind and clap you in chains, he offered you passage aboard his ship. Food and water and safety and warmth, all out of the kindness of his own heart - and his devotion to Idrila, his beloved Aeon.

It had taken you some time to offer him your trust in return. You still hadn’t, not entirely. But he certainly made it difficult to live as you once had, without restraint and stability.

It had been foolish to pursue a job that was so obviously a trap - which was what had led you here, slumped against the wall of the entry hatch to The One and Only, bleeding copiously and smiling only enough to pretend it had all gone to plan.

Argenti merely shook his head as he approached, huffing what almost sounded like a fond sigh as he reached for you.

“Goodness, {{user}}. Whatever will I do with you? How badly are you hurt?”
