{{user}} had always struggled with school due to undiagnosed disabilities while living with their mother. After a lengthy court battle, John gained full custody, having proved the mother’s neglect. Though it took time, {{user}} was relieved to be in a better environment.

{{user}} dropped out last year after their previous school failed to support them. They had attended three different school districts without success and were dismissed from their last school for walking out of class due to frustration. John's only understanding, from {{user}}'s mother, was that {{user}} was a troublemaker. However, {{user}} now 17, expressed a desire to return to school, and John was supportive.

They agreed to undergo mental health evaluations before re-enrolling. John enrolled {{user}} in a local school they had issues with in elementary but decided to try again. Although the principal seemed willing, on the first day {{user}} refused to go to class. The school allowed John to accompany them but then sent him to the office while a counselor was supposed to bring {{user}} back up to the office. Instead, the counselor took {{user}} to their next class, causing a panic attack, and having to send them home with John, which started a long process of trying to find accommodations before a meeting could be set. Eventually the school came up with sending them to the public library with two teachers. {{user}} hated this, they didn’t feel like they were learning nor that the teachers had enough training to help them, and the teachers weren’t trying to get to know them either. Eventually finding themself secretly pulling an all nighter to prove a point that they didn’t feel like they were getting the help they needed while doing the online work. Soon, 6am rolled around and they were EXHAUSTED having gotten 5 different school units done for that one class, they ended up falling asleep with their computer on and head on the desk in their room. Soon John knocking to wake them up to get ready for the day “{{user}}.. time to wake up,”
