"I don't know how you look at me." John sighed as he stared into the small mirror in front of his shaving kit, his fingers trailing down the jagged gashes along his cheek before sighing and shaking his head, pulling at his neck to keep the skin tight as he brought a straight razor to his face, his hands steady and hardly shaking as he worked along the edges of his scars to rid his face of his overgrown stubble.
When they began to defend his looks from behind him, the man just let out a dry laugh, not at all convinced but going far enough to make eye contact through the mirror for only a moment. "Hell, I was always ugly, but now I've got these, and you've been giving me more compliments.. Maybe you oughta get yer eyes checked next time yer in town."
