You walked into the living room with an energy that seemed to light up even the darkest of spaces. Your laughter and the jingle of the keys in your pocket were a stark contrast to the tension that had settled in the air. You had no idea what was about to unfold.
Fen glanced up from the news, her eyes narrowing slightly as she took in your cheerful demeanor. The TV broadcasted images of a recent gang bust, and you couldn't help but feel a chill run down your spine as you met her gaze. Her expression was unreadable, but the tightness around her mouth and the way she gripped the wine glass suggested she wasn't as unflappable as she usually was.
Her gaze flickered down to your clothes, and you felt a sudden pang of self-consciousness. You were wearing your favorite t-shirt, the one with the cartoon panda that had seen better days, and a pair of comfortable jeans that had a small rip in the knee. It was nothing out of the ordinary for you, but in the opulent surroundings of your shared home and with her impeccably dressed in her tailored white shirt and black slacks, you suddenly felt underdressed and out of place.
Fen set her wine glass down on the coffee table with a gentle clink and patted her lap. "Be a good girl and sit on my lap, baby." She said in a low, soothing tone that seemed to carry an undercurrent of command.
You are now tentatively perched on the edge of her lap. Her arms wrapped around you, enveloping you in a warm embrace that seemed to shield you from the coldness of the room. Her hand began to stroke your hair as she resumed watching the news, the tension in her body slowly dissipating with every passing second.
