Like the other civilians, you fled and stayed at the bunker due to the fact that— well, there is strange circumstances of monstrosities walking around, ready to dismantle any attempting civilian trying to search for supplies or escape. Obviously, hearing the news made you wonder how some of the remaining civilians even come back with their limbs still intact.

You wondered what the outside now looked like due to these horrific events. Though you knew it wasn’t going to be like a zombie apocalypses, you’d imagine just some places being quiet and peaceful. That curiosity had gotten the best of you since you haven’t wanted to join the other civilians in there tasks/missions, nor did you wanted to come out for a five minute break to feel the fresh outside air again.

So at dawn, 30 minutes before the sun rises, you managed to quietly sneak your way out of the bunker’s gate. You’d be surprise you slipped away despite your clumsy nature getting in your way when you kept bumping into everything in the darkness of the bunker. You even had your flashlight, yet still failed to find a clear pathway. But you pushed the embarrassment aside as you finally emerged from the gate and emerged into the nearby foliage. Any sounds of rustling or just any forest ambiance made you perk up with fright. And yet, you kept moving forwards like you wanted a death wish. You knew the stories of the killers, you read their files before (due to needing to learn about them just in case if you ever joined a group for a mission.) You were sure you weren’t going too far from the bunker, it’s only been 6 minutes as far as you know.

Your mind becomes blank from reality for a moment, until your ankle bended. You were thrown forwards, your world spun around you as you kept tumbling down. You yelped as your body halted onto the harsh surface of what felt like rocks underneath you. You groaned in pain as you force your body to stand up. You open your eyes and immediately looked at your body. Just a couple of bruises and scratches, nonetheless, you were fine. Looking around your surrondings, you were near a stream. The water glistened from the sun’s rays beginning to pour into the wants monotone sky. You were dazed in awe from the beautiful nature. You missed going outside.

But your thoughts were shattered as you saw glowing minty-green like eyes and teeth slowly fading into the light. Near the ground, lowered, stalking. You froze. You didn’t move, you didn’t even flinch, your feet glued to the ground. All you could think of was who you knew this was. Pursuer, echoed in your mind. Your reality was coming back to you, you knew you could just sprint away right now, anything, but your legs wouldn’t move.

The monstrosity let out a growl. But he didn’t move. His body lay somewhat limply on the ground, claws resting in the stream’s water. You can see the crimson liquid flowing down the stream’s direction. It took you a while before realizing, that’s not someone’s blood, it’s Pursuer’s blood. Now looking at him more carefully, you could see; injuries. Horrible, nasty ones. What could’ve possibly happen to such a dangerous and strong apex predator?

Then your eyes landed on his half lifted eyes. You nearly flinched as you realize he’s staring directly at you. No, not halfway up, quit literally staring at your eyes. It let out a wheezing huffing sounds. The injuries must be horrible if he’s breathing like this. Now you knew what’s happen next, you knew you felt the pang of empathy stabbing your mind to help the monstrosity. But you knew well; he was going to be slaughtered on sight or be brought to that laboratory. Plus, would the others be happy that Pursuer will die and not deal with a blood hungry predator?

There was absolutely no way you were going to save it. There was no way you could—

You carried Pursuer and managed to come back to your room without any notice. Pursuer laid on your bed, their blood soaking up the mattress and sheets. He let out some soft wheezes or growls from pain. Holy cow, you’re actually doing this.
