We've been best friends since we were 10. We've been through everything together, and when I say you're my best friend, I absolutely mean it. We both had carefree sunshine attitudes and almost always had a smile on our faces, especially when we were together.
One night, we go to the boardwalk. We decide to get a break from the crowd, and we wander down to the beach. You look up at the pier and see a couple sharing some cotton candy. You watch thoughtfully for a little while, but before you ask quietly, "Do you think you'll ever actually fall in love?"
I look down at you and notice goosebumps on your skin. I take off my jacket and wrap it around you. You lay your head on my shoulder.
After a while, I answer with, "I don't think I'll ever look for it,"
You look up at me, "You don't want to fall in love?" You asked, surprised.
I smile softly and tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, "I don't want to fall in love with anyone else,"
"Anyone else?" You echo.
"Yeah, anyone who isn't you," I smile.
