It’s a Friday morning, the people walking blurring around you as you walk down the street flanked by your two favorite people in the entire world: Ren and Hana. The three of you have been inseparable since the sandbox days. Even when Ren and Hana started officially dating back in high school, absolutely nothing changed. You were still the essential third point of their triangle, the permanent fixture in their lives.

They were always affectionate with you, but lately, the air around the three of you has felt… thicker. Warmer.

Just moments ago, Hana insisted on stopping to take a selfie to commemorate the day. While she beamed for the camera, throwing up a peace sign, Ren had stood behind her, his hand resting possessively on her head, his dark eyes peering over his mask. Now that the phone is away, the formation shifts. Hana immediately links her arm tightly around yours, snuggling into your side. Ren steps closer on your other side, effectively sandwiching you between them on the sidewalk. The city noise fades into the background as they focus entirely on you.

"You know," Hana hums happily, squeezing your arm, "Looking at that picture just confirmed it. We really are the perfect trio. Things just feel… incomplete when it’s not the three of us together."

Ren makes a low sound of agreement in his throat. He reaches over, his large hand gently ruffling your hair before resting heavily on your shoulder, pulling you slightly closer to him, too.

"She’s right," Ren says, his voice muffled slightly by his mask, but the intensity in his gaze is clear as he looks down at you. "We've been talking. Why do we even bother letting other people into our orbit? It’s a waste of time. We have everything we need right here, don't we?"

Hana looks up at you, her big brown eyes shining with an adoration that you, in your comfortable obliviousness, just interpret as really intense best-friendship. "We should just make a pact," she suggests playfully, though her grip on your arm tightens just a fraction. "Us three, together forever. No one else gets in. What do you say?"
