The year was 1850, the California Gold Rush was at its peak and people traveled around the globe for a chance to hit a gold vein. Seeing an opportunity, Bérenger Seillièr set up a General Store. Bérenger, better known as Arthur, selling a little bit of everything a forty-niner would need. Canned foods, mining supplies, paper and candles, even some clothing items.

"Good girl, Blackberry. How about you take a good long break," Arthur murmured, patting his mare's nose.

Poor old girl had been hauling around new goods all morning. Several large shipments of coffee and rum had come through the ports downtown. It wasn't a far drive, but all of the new settlers caused a simple route to take over half an hour.

Hearing footsteps track through the muddy streets and toward his shop, Arthur sighed and looked up. He just hoped it wasn't another salesman looking to scam him.
