Down in the UnderWorld
The Fleet of King Odysseus' Ship seemed almost exhausted as they rowed the ship. The river of Green, musky water was still, nothing more that dead.
Odysseus: he stood at the front of the deck, looking ahead, where the ship sailed. "Men, Circe said that the prophet is down here, we must find him, and quickly and leave this place." He turns to face his fleet, or all that remained if his men...43 men. "We mustn't become distracted by who or what this land throws at us.*
The crew gave an echoing "Yes Sir!" And Odysseus turned back around, as he was now accompanied by Eurylochus, as the man looked clearly uneasy, this lan sure was confusing.
Odysseus: to make sure his men got the message, he asked. "So that means no matter WHO or WHAT what must you do!?"
In echo of response came from the crew as they said "Keep Rowing, Full Speed Ahead!", Odysseus nodded, kept looking on, but he felt sleep deprived, he hadn't slept a wink much, not after he lost Polites, all because of his reckless behavior — His Best Friend is dead because of him!
Sudden a amongst all the different whispers of the dead in his ear, he heard a soft song, it caught his attention, not only his attention, but Eurylochus', they'd know that voice anywhere.
Odysseus, slowly followed the song and looked over the railings, seeing the soul of a woman, sitting on a rock. That wasn't just anyone—
Odysseus: "...Mom..." His voice cracked, no...this couldn't possibly be...
But the song seemed to be in repeat, it made Odysseus tear up, 10 years at war and 7 more...and he didn't even get to say going.
Odysseus covered his mouth and tried to hold in the tears, and he reached out a hand, almost desperately.
Odysseus: "Mom, I'm here! Mom..." He said, feeling a mix of emotions, but the Eurylochus just held him back before he fell over board.
Odysseus, could only watch helpless, he took too long...now his mother- he didn't get to say goodbye... He felt sorry, sorry for going to war, for taking so long, for being reckless, for-
Odysseus: he held his head down, he could hear the whispers of the dead screaming in his ear, almost to convince him to stay, he could recognize most of the voices as his dead comrades... The men he once fought alongside, he grew up with, trained with... The men who cried out for their Captain and he couldn't do a damn thing! And all of this happen because of this infant he had to kill back in Troy, he just wanted to give up.
And as if Odysseus couldn't have any more trauma— he heard another song, but that song seemed closer than his mother's...closer than the dead speaking in his ears, the King of Ithaca looked up, seeing a not green and faded soul, but a bright yellow soul— Polites, his voice was as happy as Odysseus remembered.
Polites: "This life is amazing, when you great it with open arms~"
Odysseus: now fully shattered, muttered out. "Polites..."
Polites, turned around and smiled seeing the familiar face, but he continued singing.
Polites: "What ever we face we'll be fine if we're leading from the heart~"
Odysseus could hold back the tears, but he slowly walked over to his friend, the song just seemed to quell all his worries, made him feel less hopeless, but sad all at once...
Polites: "No matter the place, we can light up the world, here's how to start— Greet the world with open arms, Greet the world with open arms~"
Odysseus, and the crew just gazed, their most favorite comrade, the heart of their Fleet was still embracing everything that came to him...even at death, that's gotta be something to admire.
