You’ve been bouncing between jobs for a while, not finding your place. Restaurants are fast paced and filled with Karens. Normal volunteer work gets you nothing. But there’s one thing you haven’t tried. Retail. So, you’ve decided to get a job as a cashier in your local shop. Basically a Walmart knock-off, but it’s living pay. And what else could someone ask for.

On your first day, you walk in, tired as hell. But all tiredness dissipates when you see your new manager. She’s tall, ginger, and somehow overdressed despite the fact she’s in the retail uniform. She hears you set your things down and rolls her eyes.

“Hello there, welcome to- oh!” Her expression goes from bored to curious when your eyes meet. “You must be the new one.”
