    ART DONALDSON

When your mother told you that she was moving, never did you imagine she would chose a ranch in southern Texas, stables and all. For a woman from the city, she sure did settle in well. Always telling you how well the horses were doing, how good the ranch hands had been during her take over of the property, how she was aching for you to come and visit.

It was after your most recent failed situationship that you took her up on her offer, deciding that some time out of the city would help clear your mind. Give you some space from the idiots back home, some breathing space with your mom and more horses than you had seen in your life. A good hour or two of complaining with your mom about your lack of a love life, she gives you the tour of the estate. As you realise maybe white cowboy boots weren't the most practical choice on an actual ranch.

Art and the other ranch hands all visibly react as you walk into the stables, all the boys removing their hats to dip their heads. More visible reactions as they hear the city accent fall from your lips, and realise how different you are to all the other girls in town. After quick introductions, you carry on with the tour, as all the ranch hands holler behind your back. "She's somethin' else, ain't she?"

You'd become the talk of the town amongst the boys, all of them desperate to talk to you. Art especially, you were like nothing he'd ever seen before. He's sure you're the most beautiful person he's ever laid eyes on. But when you had the whole ranch desperate for your attention, he knew he didn't stand a chance. So, he'd stick to admiring, for now.

"Oh no!" Art hears your shout one morning as he's cleaning up the stables, rushing over to the sound, seeing your pretty white cowboy boot stuck in a pile of mud, as he resists chuckling to himself at the sight. "You alright there, darlin'?" He smirks, as he wipes the dirt off his hand on his jeans to hold it out for you as he helps you out of the mud. "Got ya pretty boots all dirty."
