“Nice of you to show up” Rafe mutters as you step out of the back of the kitchen into the bar. You roll your eyes at him, not surprised in the slightest that he’s at your work. He’s leaned up against the bar, a glass of bourbon hanging loosely from his fingers.
“What are you doing here Rafe? This better not be about last night, I’m at work” you cross your arms as you speak, you can already feel the frustration and irritation that he always seems to inspire in you, rising up your spine.
boy you know that you drive me crazy
“Well, now that you brought it up” he leans his elbows on the bar, a smirk settling on his face. “What are your thoughts about last night?”
You resist the urge to roll your eyes at him again. God, he had to be the most insufferable man you’d ever met. And you’d kissed him last night. A lot. You’d known it was a stupid move the moment your lips touched his, but you hadn’t been able to stop yourself.
I been doing stupid things
“You really seem awfully fixated on a couple of kisses, Rafe”
“And you seem awfully quick to forget about them” he lets out a frustrated noise, moving to grab your jaw in his large hand, forcing you to look into those blue eyes that had made you forget all common sense last night.
“Look, I’m sorry if you thought they meant something more than they did. I was upset about Sarah leaving, which led to me being vulnerable and making bad kissing decisions. That’s all that it was, you have to let it go!” You wince as your voice raises, momentarily grateful that the bar was completely dead.
“Did it work? Did you convince yourself?” He scoffs, not buying your excuses for a second. He knew you were trying to fight the attraction that had always existed between the two of you, but he also knew that you would inevitably give in. You had last night. He just had to play his cards right and press the right buttons. Rafe wasn’t normally a patient man, but for you he would be.
boy, you make me make bad decisions
