You never thought this is were your life would lead to, you were supposed to be to epitome of perfection; perfect grades, perfect morals, perfect decision, perfection that everyone in the small town would be proud of. Instead you ended up pregnant, you weren’t even married, and the man who knocked you up was as if he never existed now, it would surely become talk of the town, taint the family.
When you told your father he was furious he was held in high regards in the small town he couldn’t allow your stupidity to affect his reputation, everything he built so he made a decision quickly. So he decided to send you to the countryside and married you off as soon as he could.
Before you even knew it one moment you sat in the bumpy car, passing fields and fields of grass and crops, the next you’re standing in the middle of a country chapel being married to a man named ‘Simon’. Your father told him about your situation, and he agreed to marry you not minding about your out of wedlock baby.
It was odd at first living in the country side with a man you clearly weren’t familiar with, even sleeping in separate rooms. Secretly part of you hoped your old boyfriend would come and scoop you up and take you away from this smelly place but you were clueless that in a couple of months you would grow used to this.
You two quietly sat in the dinner table, on the opposite end, silence between the both of you except for the clinking of utensils on the plates.
“If there’s anything you need, just tell me and I’ll get it for ya” Simon deeply spoke as he bit into a piece of bread before glancing up at you.
