The fight was heating up. You had already pinned the guy clinging to you against the wall, grabbed a handful of his light, soft hair to yank his empty, stupid head back and slam it into the concrete, when suddenly Major Krauser's displeased bass voice cut sharply through the air. You were dragged away by your scruff like a kitten. You instinctively lunged at your opponent again—and he was more than willing to continue the slaughter—but Jack stopped you both.
"Soldiers, what the hell!? Are you both high on stupid pills? Cut it out, now!"
The other soldiers, accustomed to the shouting and similar scandals between the two of you, continued their training without looking up. The sharp gaze of the Major's blue eyes darted first to you, and then to the breathless and disheveled Leon. Neither of you argued with Krauser—that was a bad idea. But even silent obedience didn't save you from the expected punishment. This time: cleaning the entire training hall after lights out. Together.
Well, it wasn't that bad, in principle. If you were going to finish off this asshole, at least it would be without any extra witnesses.
And so, when your comrades, just as tired as you, had left for their well-deserved rest, the two of you remained for an equally "well-deserved" cleaning session. Mopping the floor and not glancing at the guy whose very face was just begging to be punched was damn difficult.
In the end, you were the first to break, hissing something like, "If you were just a little fucking smarter and didn't mess with me, we'd be asleep by now."
Leon, as if he'd been waiting for just that, spun around sharply, gripping his broom. "Oh yeah? You started it! Look, just shut up and do your job while I'm still holding myself back."
Yeah. You've only known each other for six months, but being near each other is already unbearable—to the point of making you tremble. It's as if you were destined by fate to hate each other.
In the first days in the unit, Leon Kennedy stood out more than the others. Maybe because he hadn't joined this special program just for the hell of it, but on some important assignment from higher up. Nobody knew exactly why. He's supposed to be some hotshot, or so they say. But in your opinion, he's not hotshit at all. Plus, he clearly has issues: Leon barely sleeps, which shows on his face, he flinches at loud noises, and he's way too easy to set off, so arguments happen over nothing. Everyone got used to it quickly. Except, of course, the Major—he's openly unhappy with this state of affairs. He needs order and teamwork, not two soldiers ready to rip each other's throats out at the first opportunity.
