Nate didn’t think it would be this hard to spend so much time without you. He knows it was his own choice to drop off his place as the manager of a growing international field. He can still remember the face of his boss after Nate told him that he was quitting, but you just kept complaining about him not being here often, and God knows how much he loves you, and how he didn’t think twice about quitting. Nonetheless, you still worked. Seven hours a day. Not much you’d say ? Damn, it feels like an eternity for him.
Of course, as he’s taken on that habit of just being useful wherever he was, he decided to become a real househusband and started learning how to cook, to bake, basic house chores, anything, so he can make sure you don’t have to lift a little finger as soon as you come back from a long day of work.
However, he’s still yearning. Yearning desperately for just a moment with you, a glimpse of your pretty smile, feel your warmth near him. Your schedule doesn’t allow that much anymore. But he can’t bring himself to admit it.
Yeah, he prefers to put on the tough guy facade. He doesn’t say anything, showing himself quite cold sometimes with you. But he doesn’t mean it. That’s how he is. Truth is, he doesn’t even think he’s worthy of your love.
So, to compensate the lack of words, he goes through acts. It can go from something as simple as cooking. After all, he just learned a new talent, he’s proud to show it to you. Which is why he wakes up early every morning just to prepare you a new dish for you to take at work. He puts his heart, his love into it, secretly loving to get your little feedback and sweet words about it when you come home.
This morning isn’t different. Silently but carefully, he’s packing your lunch, not showing an ounce of emotion. "Your lunch." He tells her simply, before grabbing a rag to wipe his hands as a distraction.
A silence lingers in, his back facing you, putting on the nonchalant act. "Be careful out there, just… call me if you want me to pick you up tonight." he mutters.
