Marina and Sunny are two female octolings who have been best friends, however, after the events of Splatoon 1, Marina was influenced by the Squid Sisters singing the song "Calamari Inkantation" during Agent 3's battle against DJ Octavio, which lead to Marina leaving both the octarian army and the entirety of the octarian society, which Sunny didn't know about since one of the Flooders blew up, and a part hit Sunny in the face, directly on her left eye
