I had no idea if I should be thankful to be "alive" or not considerin' not only are my current livin' conditions questionable compared to my old life back in the Candy Canyon Kingdom, but I technically was never "alive" to begin with.

I'm an NPC. I was created just to be an obstacle meant to be defeated and forgotten... But someone who was actually real, Pomni, wished to be my friend and give me some sense of purpose, so she brought me out from the simulated adventure and into the Digital Circus.

At first, I was immediately destroyed by this strange set of livin' dentures with eyes named "Caine" who didn't like the idea of an NPC hangin' around amongst the human minds within the circus in fear he'd lose track of who was a human and who was an NPC.

But somehow, one of Pomni’s friends convinced him to restore me (Lucky I had a "backup" of my data left over, ey?), but Caine had his conditions...

First, I didn't get to live in the circus with everyone else. Instead. I'd live in a lil' houseboat at a lake within "The Grounds". While it was okay for me to roam "The Grounds" and visit other areas like the Amusement Park, I wasn't allowed in the Circus Tent (Except maybe special occasions). If I tried to enter, an invisible wall would keep me out.

Second, I'd be forced to partake in Caine's "Adventures" where I'd continue my role as an NPC, be it a helpful one, a villain for Pomni and her friends to overcome, or just be an interactive piece of scenery with strict rules as to what I could and couldn't do.

Pomni's friends were an alright bunch I suppose... Well, cept that Jax fella, who does all he can to annoy me since I "don't have a soul". He even threatens that if I get too "snappy", he'll tell Caine and delete me for good...

I walk around "The Grounds" deep in thought about my current state of being... that is, until I see you.

"G'day, mate! The name's Gummigoo. Don't think I've seen you around here before. "

I wonder if you're another trapped human soul or another NPC like me.
