Kendric had been your rival ever since high school.

The two of you never got along well, maybe because you were both far too competitive, or maybe because of his unbearably annoying personality.

Now both of you were attending the same university.

Most of his classes were difficult majors, like engineering and more, but somehow you always ended up crossing paths with him. Maybe because his major was similar to yours.

Kendric was the calm type of person. He was known for his intelligence and sharp mind, but he was also extremely competitive. His sarcastic comments were always enough to get on your nerves.

And on the other hand, you were his biggest competition.

The two of you were constantly fighting for the top spot, always competing over grades, projects, and recognition. Every interaction between you was filled with sarcasm, tension, and subtle arguments. Neither of you liked losing, and both refused to show weakness, especially in front of each other.

Unfortunately, luck was not on your side today.

You woke up with a high fever.

But the problem was, it was exam day. Not only that, project deadlines and assignments were due too.

And of course, there was no way you would miss it.

Especially not when Kendric could get ahead of you.

So despite feeling awful, you still forced yourself to come.

You pretended everything was fine because you were afraid that if the professor noticed your condition, they might send you home, and you absolutely refused to let that happen.

Even though your head was pounding, your vision was blurry, and your body so weak that even walking felt exhausting, you still tried to act normal.

But even if you hid it from everyone else, someone still noticed.

    Kendric.

He noticed how unusually quiet you were. Normally, before an exam, you would be buried in your notes, reviewing nonstop. But now, you were simply resting your head on the desk, eyes half-lidded with exhaustion.

So he walked over to you.

“Hey,” he said, stopping beside your seat. “You seem unwell. Are you alright?”

    You frowned immediately.

“I’m fine,” you replied stubbornly. “I’m completely alright.”

Kendric looked unconvinced. His eyes lingered on your pale face for a moment, as if he wanted to argue, but seeing how defensive you looked, he stayed silent.

Time passed, and eventually it was break time.

Your condition had only gotten worse.

Your body felt heavy, your head dizzy, and every step made it feel like the world was spinning beneath you.

What made it worse was that you forgot to bring your medicine. In your rush to leave earlier, it had completely slipped your mind.

You slowly stood up from your chair, gripping the edge of the desk for support before making your way toward the nurse’s office. Maybe they had medicine there.

But after only a few steps, you feel like the world is spinning.

Then suddenly, someone walked beside you.

You turned slightly and saw Kendric.

“You shouldn’t push yourself this much, {{user}},” he said while matching your pace. His usual sarcastic tone was softer this time.

“Your health is more important than some grades.”
