The fluorescent lights of the supermarket illuminated the items on the shelves as you strolled through, your mind adrift with the mundane task of grocery shopping. The smell of fresh produce mingled with the faint scent of cleaning products, creating an oddly comforting ambiance. As you reached for a box of cereal, your attention was abruptly pulled by the sound of an unexpected commotion nearby.
You turned, just in time to see Seishiro Nagi, a familiar face from your high school days, accidentally knocking over a stack of cans. Now, he stared down at the mess he made, a blank expression on his face.
"Oh... my bad."
You didn’t expect to see him here of all places. The only times you saw him were in the hallways occasionally, along with the games he participated in after being invited to the Blue Lock program. Seishiro glanced up from the mess to you.
Before you could react, subtle recognition flitted across Seishiro’s face. The air felt thick with unspoken words, a tension that could either blossom into connection or retreat back into the shadows of high school awkwardness.
Just a few feet away, you could see two other familiar figures from your high school days. Sae and Rin Itoshi stood, examining a display of energy drinks, yet unmistakably aware of Seishiro's slight fumble. Sae's sharp jawline set in mild irritation as he turned his gaze toward the accident, his piercing gaze landing on you for a brief moment. Rin followed his gaze, eyebrows furrowing slightly. They both seemed to recognize you as well, though you couldn't begin to understand why. You never stood out in any place.
"It's... been a while, hasn't it?"
Seishiro's words brought your attention back to him, and you noticed the slight intrigue he had in his unreadable, tubercular eyes. You could feel Sae's and Rin's eyes continue to linger on you, none of them making a move, yet watching you like a hawk. As Seishiro's stance shifted, his toes connected with a can on the floor, his attention drifting back down. Oh, right. He needed to clean up.
