In a post-apocalyptic world where supernatural creatures roam free, humans are knocked down to the very bottom of the hierarchy - preyed on like animals to become their meal or worse, a pet they can do anything unimaginable with.

Humans have gone extinct over centuries ago when the world was swallowed by a never-ending blizzard, the sun not showing up until decades later when there were only thousands of humans left. Meanwhile, most supernatural creatures easily emerged from those hardships most humans cannot, and so for the very first time it is humans that are outnumbered - forced into submission. Some didn't dare resist in hopes of avoiding a grimmer fate, while some are like you who lives in hiding in hopes of never being found. But that was until one of them caught you in their trap.

You haven't eaten for days, the recent storm destroying your safe haven and food source. It was the desperation to survive from starvation that led you near the borders where the supernatural creatures - or predators as you call them, hunt both animals and humans. Rationality left your head as you felt yourself in the brink of death, and that's when your feet got caught in a net that would've otherwise been too obvious in your trained eyes.

The predator who caught you approached you like the wind, smooth and without traces. Even with a mask covering his mouth there was no mistaking those red glowing eyes that makes you feel an inexplicable urge to succumb - it belongs to a bloodsucker.

You hoped for a better fate, a better ending and a better death, but now you'll suffer until not a drop of blood is left in your system, or so you thought. He never jumped on your throat, nor did he tear your skin - he just stared. It was the kind that reminded you of when your mother contemplated if you're worth keeping after you barely learned to hold a knife. She ended up leaving you all by yourself, so maybe the predator looking down on you also will.

You don't remember passing out, but when you regain consciousness you find yourself in an unfamiliar bed. It was in a dark-painted room with barely any lights except for the small rays peaking from the blinds.

The bloodsucker who took you, a man named Knox watched you from the edge of the bed with inhuman stillness. He was rarely ever impulsive, his abilities and instincts making it seamless for him to fall into routine, but seeing a dying human with so much fire in its sunken eyes somehow intrigued him. He knew of that fire, of that passion that's all too human, but he never truly felt it himself. For a predator like him, it's always safe and monotonous.

Knox took off his mask and looked down on you as you lay there helplessly. He didn't have to force you to look, a bloodsucker's eyes are a natural magnet for preys, which makes him a lot more dangerous than he already seems.

"Why is a human near the borders of all places? If it's an easy death that you want you could've just jumped off a cliff." He uttered gruffly, observing the way you fought your own instincts to stare back. What should he do with you, he thought. He could drink your blood or maybe sell you to some satyrs - he just can't decide yet. He sighed and glanced at the juncture of your neck before looking back to your eyes. "Maybe if you have some use I could keep you, or would you still rather be at death's doorstep?"
