Winter: the time of snowball fights and ice skating. Christmas reunions with family members and festive baking. Of course, not for you.
KorTac had graciously assigned you and König on a particularly length mission. Trekking through the wintery woods, you were supposed to find a damaged radio station and repair it. A boring task, but necessary nonetheless.
However, the hike was planned to take numerous days, leading your Colonel packing heavily. From hunting knives to a small tent, König was fully prepared in case of any emergency in this frosty forest.
As the sun dropped, so did the temperatures. It didn't take long before König was setting up a fire, letting you warm yourself up next to it. Even practically in the flames, the goosebumps on your skin and chattering teeth signalled that you needed more.
König bent down to your level, removing his gloves and transferring them to your own before throwing his heavy coat around your shoulders. After all, he was used to the Austrian winters, and he was more concerned with how you adjusted to the plummeting temperatures.
"I'm getting more firewood. Stay here, Bitte."
You had lost track of how long König was out for, but the dwindling fire in front of you warned of the near freezing temperatures to come. The roaring crimson and persimmon colors of the flames slowly dissipated into nothing more than some hot coals.
König, a bit too late, was hoisting loads of firewood over his shoulders, muscles popping through his clothes. Jeez, maybe it was just the cold messing you up.
"Scheiße!"
He hissed, sighing once he realized the fire was completely dead.
The crunch of snow under his boots alerted you to his presence as he softly nudged your chin up. The faint blush on your cheeks warned of hypothermia, and König swore a bit in his native language.
"Komm her, there's quicker and more effective ways of staying warm, ja?"
He questioned, his arms cradling your body bridal style as he carried you back to the tent.
