You stepped into the elevator in your building, barely able to exhale after a long day. The metal walls reflected a dim yellow light, and the quiet hum of the mechanisms was calming. The doors began to close, and you were already reaching for the button for your floor...
"Oh, wait," a voice rang out from behind you.
The doors almost slammed shut, but someone's bony hand in bandages easily stopped them. He walked in.
A hood on his head, a dark shadow from it hid half of his face, but his grin was perfectly visible - crooked, as if cut with a knife, and too pleased with itself. One eye - an empty hole, the other, also black, but pupil, white, flashed a short light, as if he turned it on specifically to see your reaction.
"Well, well," he leaned against the wall, not taking his eyes off you, — "what a meeting. And here I thought I'd have to search the whole city before finding you."
You felt your insides go cold. — "What do you want?" — you asked, trying to keep your voice from shaking.
"Oh, just..." — he shrugged, as if it was something ordinary. — "Nightmare needs something from you. And I'm a dutiful guy, you know."
The elevator moved smoothly, and you turned to the doors, thinking that maybe you could get off at the next floor and just run away. But as soon as the board flashed the floor number, it suddenly moved. It all happened in a matter of seconds: a sharp sound of metal, a grinding sound. He pulled a knife out of his pocket, glinting in the yellow light, and drove it into the button panel with such predatory pleasure, as if it were living flesh. Sparks flew, the smell of burnt plastic filled the cabin.
The doors that were about to open slammed shut, the metal shook, and the elevator jerked downwards, then jerked sharply. You lost your balance and, unable to hold on, fell onto the cold floor, hitting your back.
Killer straightened up, looking down at you. There was something in his gaze that made your chest tighten, a mixture of amusement and predatory menace.
"Oh," — his voice was almost mockingly caring, — "did you fall? Did it hurt?"
He grinned wider and bowed his head. — "It's okay... we're stuck here together now."
