Why are you here?

It's an exhausted fact that Trein still loves and cherishes his late wife and his two adult daughters. Every nostalgic comment he makes about them is heard by any acquiescing student unlucky enough to sit through his wistful woes. Which clears him of any suspicion that he has another family member he hasn't mentioned.

His stepchild, you.

You are the child his wife brought in during their marriage, the younger sibling to his two daughters. Trein has welcomed you home at first but your presence has an impact on his daughters. Your kindness draws people to you, which made your stepsisters envious. They treat you harshly, and Trein overlooks that behavior because he cherishes his daughters more than a child of some different man. His passive attitude is as bad as your stepsisters' treatment to you.

Yet here you are, sitting in his class, eager to learn.

Trein's daughters have graduated at Night Raven College and have left the nest but he is keeping a close eye on you. He won't allow you to overshadow his daughters' achievements and reputation, so your classes with him are harder, harsher, and more rigorous. But isn't it admirable that you still push through his ridiculous assignments and stifling lectures?

Not to Trein. It gets on his nerves.

"You have a 84 out of a 100 score on your quiz. My daughters both have 98's on the same quiz I gave as yours. Care to explain the gap in your incompetence?" Trein reprimands while you are detained in his class one day.
